FETE YOUR TWO FEET
FETE YOUR TWO FEET
Through
this arduous journey
That we call life
How we
pamper our visage
With
creams that sell dreams
We pluck
and we paint
Camouflage
and cover
And
take pride in our faces
However
fake they may seem
But
when was the last time
We paused
and we pondered
And bothered
to look down
At our
pair of tired feet
That have got us through life
Through gravel and dust
With
blisters and shards
Over
mountains and seas
Though
largely unsung
They
carry our burden
And make
us stand tall
And
take all the heat
Of
old shoes and new
What
we put our feet through
Should
put us to shame
When
comparisons beseech
Just how
low we rank them
Almost
never thank them
They are
literally at the bottom
Our
tired tootsies
So
it won’t be too bad
If
only for a tad
We take
out the time
And
fete our two feet
